Once again, our IB science students demonstrated their rigorous research skills and their increasing confidence in delivering oral presentations in this year's group 4 IB Science Fair. 

Students took on collaborative projects on the theme of 'The Near Future'  focusing on how humans can apply scientific knowledge to meet existential challenges and thrive in the next 50 years. Approximately 100 budding scientists created outstanding posters, slides, and interactive models that demonstrated extraordinary creative ingenuity and high-level science.

Group 2: Sustainable town Centres (Awarded by Senior Leadership Team)

Group 4: Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Cancer (Awarded by University of Kent)

Group 9: Enzyme digestion of Plastic (Awarded by Mayor of Broadstairs and Town Council)

Group 12: Applications of Fungal Lifeforms (Awarded by Thanet Earth)

Group 15: Becoming a type 1 Civilization (Awarded by Fujifilm)

Group 16: Feeding the future (Awarded by Cummins Engineering)

Our visiting judges were blown away by the students' articulation and confidence. As a representative from Cummins Engineering remarked: "Unbelievable amount of work done in such a short amount of time... The kids were so intelligent! Their presentation skills/ slides & models were outstanding."

Prizes were awarded by guest judges from Thanet Earth, Fuji Film, Cummins, the University of Kent and the Mayor of Broadstairs.

 The IB Science Fair is just one of a whole host of STEM enrichment activities offered at Dane Court Sixth Form, from our advanced biology dissection club to problem-solving Olympiads.
