  • DCGS Community Choir

    Published 26/02/26, by Laura Trinkwon

Reclaim your Tuesday evenings with the Community Choir. This ensemble is a dedicated space for our broader school family—staff, teachers, and alumni—to step away from the desk and into the music. Whether you are a seasoned choral singer or haven't read a note of music since school, our rehearsals are designed to be rewarding and relaxed. Our repertoire is a blend of contemporary classical works and reimagined pop arrangements, offering something for every palette. There are no auditions and no pressure—just a shared commitment to creating a brilliant sound, fostering a sense of connection through song, and having fun together.

  • Attendance Reminders

    Published 13/02/26, by Laura Trinkwon
Thank you again for your role in our consistently improving attendance figures which have continued to improve throughout this term. Please see below for some brief reminders regarding our attendance and absence procedures.
    • Where possible, please book medical, dental, or optician appointments for the late afternoon or during school holidays. If an appointment during the day is necessary, make sure your child attends school before and/or after the slot rather than taking the entire day off (where this is possible). Whilst most medical or dental appointments will be authorised this still does affect students' overall attendance percentage. Please ensure that we are made aware of appointments in advance. This will avoid unnecessary delays should you need to pick up your child during the school day.
    • Could we please ask you to reinforce to your child that they should not contact parents themselves if they are feeling ill during the school day. We recognise that children often want to speak to their parents in the first instance when they are feeling unwell but for their own safety this must be done through the school office.

  • Photography competition for schools and about Bird Wise East Kent

    Published 27/01/26, by Laura Trinkwon

Bird Wise East Kent and Thanet Coast Project are looking for budding young photographers to enter their free photography competition!
The East Kent Coast Photography Awards are held every year, and are a celebration of all the wonderful wildlife we have here on the East Kent Coast. There are lots of different categories, but our dedicated Under 18s category is open to a wide range of coastal subjects. It doesn’t matter if it flies, swims, walks, or none of the above: if it can be found on our shores, we want to see it!
So if your students have some brilliant coastal pictures, please do encourage them to enter. Spending a morning or afternoon trying to capture some coastal scenes could also be a great activity! It doesn't matter if they were taken on a smartphone or a camera, it's all about capturing the essence of the East Kent
    Coast.
