  • A day of Musical Magic: House Music Cup 2026

    Published 05/03/26, by Laura Trinkwon

The air in the Dane Court Grammar School theatre was electric this week, as students gathered for the annual House Music Cup on Wednesday the 4th March. It was a spectacular showcase of talent, grit, and harmony, with our six houses—Barcelona, Delphi, Neuchâtel, Helsinki, Sorrento, and Tallinn—battling it out for the top spot.

Our external judges, all professional musicians, were blown away by the excellent quality of the performances. They particularly noted the impressive surge in participation this year, proving that the musical spirit at Dane Court is stronger than ever.

The competition was split into three distinct categories, each bringing its own unique energy to the stage.

Over February half term, the Science Department led by Ms Sabic took 40 year 10 and 12 students to Italian Dolomites, the region where the Winter Olympic Games took place this year.

We stayed in a nice hotel (Orsa Maggiore) where the staff were really friendly and didn't mind opening room doors to locked out children many times during the week.  Some enjoyed the games room and even the sauna at the hotel.

  • Attendance Reminders

    Published 13/02/26, by Laura Trinkwon
Thank you again for your role in our consistently improving attendance figures which have continued to improve throughout this term. Please see below for some brief reminders regarding our attendance and absence procedures.
    • Where possible, please book medical, dental, or optician appointments for the late afternoon or during school holidays. If an appointment during the day is necessary, make sure your child attends school before and/or after the slot rather than taking the entire day off (where this is possible). Whilst most medical or dental appointments will be authorised this still does affect students' overall attendance percentage. Please ensure that we are made aware of appointments in advance. This will avoid unnecessary delays should you need to pick up your child during the school day.
    • Could we please ask you to reinforce to your child that they should not contact parents themselves if they are feeling ill during the school day. We recognise that children often want to speak to their parents in the first instance when they are feeling unwell but for their own safety this must be done through the school office.
